8 Fashion Trends That We Definitely Won’t Be Missing

When fashion designers come up with new styles, they don’t always think about how these things will look on ordinary people. Will they make people look pretty or awkward? And when these trends eventually become a thing of the past, we can finally breathe a sigh of relief.

Contrasting lip liner

This trend from the ’90s returned in 2021 and has taken over social media. Literally, every fashion influencer began to wear this type of makeup. However, women soon realized that it looks beautiful only in photos. In real life, contrasting lip liner looks way too unnatural.

The popularity of one of the most controversial trends of the early 2000s seems to be gaining momentum again. Thongs peeking out from low-waisted jeans and pants annoy most people, but not the main trendsetters of today, like Bella Hadid, Kim Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner. It seems that these celebrities want to make this trend popular again. However, only time will tell whether they will succeed at this.

Bullet bra

Madonna, who once appeared on stage wearing a bullet bra, was actually not the first woman to sport
this controversial piece of clothing. The first bullet bra was released back in 1941 — the fashionistas of that time considered it a real must-have. However, this type of underwear has long sunk into oblivion, and so far, it doesn’t seem to be coming back.

Self-tanning

In the early 2000s, it was super trendy to look as if you’d just come back from a beach vacation. This is why celebrities used different self-tanning products that colored their skin in all shades of golden brown. Today, however, excessively tanned skin is not trendy anymore — naturalness is now in fashion, so self-tanning is a big no-no now.

Sagging

This relaxed style was actively promoted by rappers and hip-hop musicians in the 1990s. This was their way to show how indifferent they were to social rules and norms. Nowadays, this trend has almost become obsolete, but some of its elements can still be found in the now-popular oversized clothing.

Socks

In 2020, it became really trendy to wear socks or tights with open-toed shoes. But nowadays, this fashion trend has begun to recede, slowly. However, avid fashionistas are not yet ready to completely abandon socks paired with slippers or loafers. But this time, they choose colorful or white stockings.

Chain-embellished shoes

Chain-embellished shoes were at their peak of popularity in the early spring of 2021, but by the end of the summer, the popularity of the trend began to decline. Today, chain-embellished shoes have been replaced by heeled loafers — one of the main fashion trends of last fall.

Bike shorts

Bike shorts are one of the most controversial summer trends. This tricky piece of clothing can make even the longest and most slender legs look short. They don’t look good on anyone, except maybe Princess Diana, who popularized this trend. Today, fashionistas combine bike shorts with shirts, sweatshirts, and even crop tops. Unfortunately, the thin fabric of bike shorts tends to exhibit everything that is beneath them, so we hope that they will be made with thicker fabric in the future.

Even the beautiful Bella Hadid looks awkward in bike shorts. In our opinion, the role of clothes is to help people look nice, not to emphasize their imperfections. And what about you? What do you think about these fashion trends?
