Sweet Moment Captured as Toddler Runs to Embrace Her Firefighter Father

Captain Dave Colson has been serving the Glendale, Arizona, fire department for nearly two decades, and in all those years, he has only responded twice to an emergency call on his own street. But last week was different. Colson, a member of the department’s hazardous materials team, led a team to respond to a natural gas leak on his street, where he lives with his wife and four children.

After successfully handling the minor leak, Colson saw that his family had been watching the whole ordeal from their front yard. So, he decided to walk down the street to say hi to them. As he approached his house, his youngest child, 2-year-old Jenna, saw him and started running towards him in just a diaper. The touching moment was captured in a photo by Colson’s wife and quickly went viral after being shared on the fire department’s Facebook page.

It’s not often that a firefighter responds to an emergency call on their own street, but for Colson, it was an opportunity to showcase his bravery and dedication to his community. And the heartwarming moment with his daughter shows that even heroes have a soft side.

For Captain Dave Colson, the moment his 2-year-old daughter, Jenna, sprinted towards him with open arms after responding to a natural gas leak on their street is one he’ll never forget. He described the expression on her face as priceless, with a huge grin from ear to ear.

Colson explained that he wasn’t surprised to see Jenna running towards him. This rare moment of seeing her dad in action as a firefighter made her and her siblings proud. Colson’s children are 8, 6, 4, and 2, and they asked him many questions about his job when he came home from work.

The touching photo of Jenna and Colson quickly went viral on social media, with dozens of people thanking him for his service as a firefighter and for being a great role model as a dad.

Colson said he’s been touched by the positive reactions to the photo and feels grateful for the opportunity to show his children what he does for a living. As a dedicated firefighter and loving father, he knows the importance of being a positive role model both on and off the job.

And recently, on May, 1, the Glendale Fire Department helped rescue a puppy. It appears that the doggo dug a hole in his backyard and snuck out for a morning swim.

Luckily, the dog wasn’t hurt and got to reunite with the owner shortly.

Of course, the 2-year-old Jenna from our story got lucky because of her wonderful dad. However, it is not always necessary to be a strong firefighter to be a great role model: some parents win their kids’ hearts with their sense of humor.
