7 Myths About Ancient Egypt Movies Tricked Us Into Believing

Almost every movie has its share of goofs, regardless of the director’s fame or the size of the budget. But some mistakes are so glaring that it’s shocking they weren’t caught before the final cut — and eagle-eyed viewers didn’t miss them.
In the first episode of Bridgerton Season 3, Penelope runs out of the ball in despair and throws her hairpin to the ground. Moments later, she has a brief conversation with Colin before climbing into a carriage and heading home. But here’s the odd part: once she arrives, she sits down to write for Whistledown’s column — wearing the very same hairpin that, according to the previous scene, she had just thrown away.
In the popular TV show Pretty Little Liars, there’s a memorable scene where Aria holds her phone upside down while talking to her boyfriend. It’s unclear how this mistake made it to the final cut, but it serves as a reminder that even the most carefully planned productions can have slip-ups.
The late ’90s teen comedy 10 Things I Hate About You owes much of its enduring popularity to Heath Ledger’s and Julia Stiles’s chemistry. However, even beloved films are not immune to continuity errors. In one scene, Larisa Oleynik’s character opens the third drawer of a piece of furniture while entering a room with Joseph Gordon Levitt. Yet, in the next shot, she is holding the second drawer.
Love Actually, a film with a sprawling cast and intersecting storylines, is not immune to mistakes. One such error can be spotted in the scene where Mark (Andrew Lincoln) shows his wedding video to Juliet (Keira Knightley).
At the start of the scene, a metal rack is visible in front of some canvases. However, when Juliet sets up the video at 53:10, the shelf mysteriously vanishes, only to reappear in the next shot. Despite this slip-up, Love Actually remains a beloved holiday classic.
The iconic romantic drama, Ghost, launched the ’90s with one of the most unforgettable love stories of the decade, featuring the captivating chemistry of Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. However, the film’s director was so invested in the story that he inadvertently appeared on camera, visible in the mirror’s reflection as the characters placed a statue in the apartment.
In Game of Thrones, Melisandre, a Red Priestess of the Lord of Light, is known for her necklace, which seemingly keeps her young and beautiful. However, in one scene, she removes the necklace and still appears young, leading to confusion among viewers.
Notting Hill, the iconic romantic comedy featuring Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, captured the hearts of a generation and remains one of the most beloved films of the late 20th century. However, even the magic of love cannot escape the scrutiny of eagle-eyed viewers. In the scene where William interviews Anna, two open brass plates can be seen on the door. Yet, in the next scene, they are replaced by a narrow, closed plate.
The Notebook, a beloved romantic drama, features a small oversight many may have missed. In a scene where Noah dares Allie to lie down in the street, his head aligns with sidewalk lines. When Allie joins him, he’s magically in a different position.
In the TV series Bridgerton, the heroines are shown wearing tight corsets directly against their bare skin. We even see cuts and scratches on Daphne Bridgerton’s back, supposedly caused by the discomfort of the corset. However, in reality, this would have been impossible. During the Regency period, as in other historical eras, corsets were worn over an undergarment, which was an essential part of every lady’s wardrobe.
In the scene where Rose is quietly contemplating her unhappy future over dinner, she’s wearing a diamond necklace. But in the next scene, when she runs onto the deck, the necklace is gone, and her hair is suddenly disheveled.
The explanation is simple: in the final edit, an in-between moment was cut. Originally, Rose first runs to her room, angrily rips off the necklace, and lets her hair down before heading to the deck. Since the audience never sees that part, it looks as if her hair and necklace have a mind of their own.
