It all started when she won a plastic surgery contest

Yvie, a woman who applied to Braun Plastic Surgery — a Korean clinic known for its YouTube channel filled with plastic surgery content — was chosen for a new challenge aimed at transforming an older patient.

“Up until now, we’ve performed surgeries mostly on young people who wanted to become prettier,” one of the doctors noted. With this in mind, the focus shifted to older women. The team specifically sought “middle-aged women who gained a lot of weight after childbirth and parenting or whose faces were sagging due to aging.” In the end, Yvie was selected through a lucky draw.

She was trying to reconnect with herself

In her application video, she said she was 57 years old and interested in becoming one of the clinic’s models. She included a photo of herself from years earlier. “I still feel on the inside like I’m the person in that photo, but when I look in the mirror, I get surprised that I look tired and drawn, and just like life has done a number on me,” she explained.

Before her trip to South Korea for a series of surgeries, she opened up about the frustration of seeing a reflection that didn’t match how she felt inside. The changes in her face had become hard to ignore. “My ears are getting longer, my nose is getting bigger, my wrinkles are getting deeper. It’s startling. It’s hard to age and face those changes in the mirror and kind of be taken by surprise sometimes at the fact that you don’t look like you anymore,” she admitted.

The treatments were largely centered on her face

Yvie said she underwent plastic surgery procedures on her face and breasts, including a forehead and lower eye lift, a facelift, and a breast reduction.

“There’s a bit of sagging in her face as well as in her breasts, so she wanted a breast reduction,” one of the doctors explained. “The sagging breasts are causing her shoulder pain, that was her biggest concern.”

Recovering from the surgeries wasn’t easy for Yvie, especially during the first few days. She recalled in a post-surgery video that the initial period was tough: “The recovery, especially the first two or three days, was challenging for me. But I didn’t come with family or friends, so I had to do everything myself, and I think that contributed to being more challenging.”

Despite the difficulties, she’s thrilled with the changes, particularly after the breast reduction. She described feeling a huge sense of relief and freedom: “I already feel liberated from the chest that I was carrying before, which was always in the way. It was very heavy and my back hurt. Thank you so very much.” The procedures not only transformed her appearance but also significantly improved her quality of life.
