Dwayne ’The Rock’ Johnson shared a heartwarming video on his Instagram account, depicting his reunion with fellow actor Brendan Fraser at the 2023 Academy Awards ceremony. The duo had previously worked together in the movie The Mummy Returns.

In the video, Johnson, 50, appeared to be engaged in an enthusiastic conversation with Fraser, who had recently won the Academy Award for Best Actor.
The two celebrities had previously acted together in the 2001 adventure film The Mummy Returns, which was also Dwayne’s debut movie.

Johnson wrote a caption for the Instagram post addressing his over 370 million followers, in which he expressed his excitement about reuniting with his long-time friend Brendan and his sons.

He also reminisced about how The Mummy Returns, in which Brendan played the lead role, was his first Hollywood movie. The Black Adam actor referred to the reunion as a “very cool full circle moment.”

In the video, Dwayne acknowledged that during the early days of his acting career, many critics and skeptics doubted his success. However, Brendan Fraser welcomed him warmly and supported him through his debut Hollywood film.

The Rock expressed his gratitude for Brendan’s kindness, stating that he never forgets people who show him kindness. Years later, Brendan went on to win the Best Actor award at the Oscars for his performance in The Whale. Dwayne congratulated his friend on his well-deserved success and advised him to relish the moment.

On the big night, Dwayne was spotted on the red carpet with his co-star from Jungle Cruise, Emily Blunt. He was dressed in a stunning gold suit jacket and black slacks, which garnered attention.

The actor paired the jacket with a classic white dress shirt, a black bowtie, and sleek black dress shoes. Additionally, he added a pink floral brooch to the left lapel of his jacket, which complemented his overall look.

Brendan also looked stylish for the event, wearing a black tuxedo with a white dress shirt and black bowtie. The two friends were captured backstage, chatting and smiling near a crowded area at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

At one point, Brendan gestured towards his two sons, Leland, aged 16, and Holden, aged 18, who had accompanied him to the awards show. The Whale actor stepped aside, allowing his sons to meet and shake hands with The Rock, who seemed equally delighted to meet them.

Brendan Fraser is a proud father of three boys, Leland and Holden, both teenagers, and Griffin, who is 20. As Brendan began to receive critical acclaim and recognition for his performance in The Whale, Dwayne Johnson showed his support.

In September of last year, viral footage of Brendan receiving a standing ovation at the Venice Film Festival circulated on social media. Dwayne took to Twitter to express his joy and support for his friend, mentioning how Brendan had supported him during his first-ever role in The Mummy Returns. Brendan, in turn, expressed his gratitude towards The Rock for his kind words.

During Variety’s New York Party, Brendan expressed his appreciation for The Rock’s support and revealed that they had actually met for the first time at the reception after The Mummy Returns was made.

Despite their onscreen fights, they had never met in person until then. Brendan humorously joked about how he could take on The Rock since he had only worked with a piece of tape on a stick during filming. The Mummy Returns was a successful sequel to the 1999 film, The Mummy, and also starred Rachel Weisz and Patricia Velasquez.

The film grossed $435 million on a budget of $98 million, and Dwayne’s character became popular enough to earn his own spin-off movie, The Scorpion King, in 2002.

Both those actors are extremely talented and kind-hearted. And if you’d like to see more of The Rock, then check this amusing article that will tickle your imagination.
