Matthew Perry passed away recently. Many of his colleagues have paid tribute to the actor with touching and heartfelt words, but the star’s five main friends have been silent for a long time. And now they have turned to their friend. And they did it in a way that left fans with a pinch in their hearts.

LeBlanc and Perry have long been regarded as one of television’s most popular best-friend duos. They joked when Perry described the cast’s chemistry as “magical” and LeBlanc deadpanned, “I’d say awkward”. “It’s awkwardly magical,” Perry added.

So it’s no surprise that LeBlanc was the first member of the Friends cast to break the silence and speak out about Matthew Perry’s passing.

Matt LeBlanc honored Matthew Perry with an online emotional tribute, more than two weeks after Perry’s sudden death following an accidental drowning. LeBlanc shared a heartfelt message on his Instagram, bidding farewell to Perry, in a post that included a collection of stills from the two actors in their roles as Joey Tribbiani and Chandler Bing in the iconic sitcom Friends.

“Matthew it is with a heavy heart I say goodbye,” LeBlanc wrote. “The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life. It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never.
Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love.”

However, the actor decided to finish his loving message in a more positive note, as he jokingly added: “And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me.”

After LeBlanc, other friends of Perry’s broke the silence. Jennifer Aniston released one of Matthew’s letters to her in which he wrote that he loved to make her laugh. According to the actress, this was one of the most important things for Perry. “For Matty, he KNEW he loved to make people laugh. As he said himself, if he didn’t hear the ‘laugh’ he thought he was going to die,” she wrote.

Lisa Kudrow thanked the actor for their hours of heartfelt conversation. And David Schwimmer posted a photo of them together, captioning it, “You had heart. Which you were generous with, and shared with us, so we could create a family out of six strangers.”

Courteney Cox has admitted that she misses Matthew every day since his passing. She posted in her Instagram the best of their joint shots from Friends, and in the comments section, fans who were not stingy with their emotions expressed their love for the actor.

It is no secret to fans of Friends that over the years of filming, the main cast have become close friends in real life. Their friendship has only grown stronger over the years. Here’s what Aniston had to say about it, “It’s still, to me, one of the greatest jobs I’ve ever had. It goes so beyond the work and what the show was, which was, in and of itself, just a spectacular phenomenon, but the friendships and family that came out of it is just — you can’t put words to that really. It’s priceless.”

The loss of one of the six friends was a great sorrow for the others. And a huge army of fans of the show mourned with them. The actors and actresses knew how to support each other in difficult moments, to rejoice in each other’s happiness and to be there for each other, no matter what fate had decided. And today they have to learn to do it in five, and Matthew will live in their hearts from now on.
