Meet Noah Matthews the History-Making Disney Star with Down Syndrome
Noah Matthews is a talented and charismatic actor who is ready to make history as the first Disney actor with Down syndrome (DS) in a leading role. The 15-year-old star will play Slightly, one of the adventurous lost boys on the magical island of Neverland, which is part of J. M. Barrie’s classic novel Peter Pan. The story is coming to life in a new live-action adaptation that you can enjoy starting from April 28 on Disney+.
Noah shared his excitement and joy on his Instagram account, where he posted photos and videos of his amazing experience on the set, along with the other actors. He also talked to international media about his first movie.
“It was an amazing experience, I had my own trailer and made lots of fantastic friends. We all learned sword fighting, which I loved. I had lots of lines to learn very quickly, but it was exciting and I really enjoyed it”, he shared.
Noah is also a proud ambassador of the charity Positive about Down Syndrome, which offers support and information to parents with children with DS. Noah captioned his Instagram post, “I’m so excited to be a Patron of Down Syndrome UK and looking forward to going to some of the amazing events they organise.”
Noah also expressed his gratitude and admiration for the film’s director David Lowery and actor Jude Law, who plays Captain Hook. He said they were very kind and supportive of all the young actors on the set.
Our raising star, who has been passionate about acting since he was a child, is an example of courage and determination for everyone. He proves that having DS is not an obstacle to pursuing your dreams and achieving your goals. He is a shining star who will dazzle us all in Peter Pan.
