After an extensive selection process, the three young leads for the upcoming Harry Potter TV series have finally been announced. Chosen from a pool of over 32,000 aspiring actors, these talented children will take on the iconic roles from J.K. Rowling’s beloved book series. Let’s meet the new trio!

Meet the new Harry, Ron and Hermione.

Dominic McLaughlin got the role of Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe before. The Scottish actor has already played alongside Ralph Fiennes in Macbeth at the Royal Highland Centre. He will also feature in the upcoming comedy film, Grow.

Alastair Stout will be taking the role of Ron Weasley, who hasn’t got any acting experience so far, except for a TV ad.

Arabella Stanton is set to play Hermione Granger. She starred as Matilda in Matilda The Musical back in 2023. And also played Control in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical, the Starlight Express.

Additional cast members have also been revealed.

In addition to the three lead roles, Warner Bros. has unveiled more of the cast for the upcoming big-budget series. John Lithgow will take on the role of Albus Dumbledore, while Nick Frost has been cast as Hagrid.

Most fans reacted positively to the new cast, with many describing them as “book accurate.” One user remarked, “They’re cute and looking similar to their characters,” while another said, “So exciting, he looks just like Harry!” Another fan commented, “They did a great job casting Ron.”

On Reddit, some fans shared thoughts about Arabella, with one saying, “I don’t know about her acting skills, but she’s got the right look for it.” Another added, “I think she looks like Hermione.”

A comment on X captured the general sentiment: “As a huge Harry Potter fan, I must say these look pretty good. Could have been a lot worse.”

The original cast

The original three stars, who were just 11 years old when they found fame, are now worth a staggering amount. Daniel, now 35, has an estimated net worth of £82.5 million, while Emma, 35, bagged £64 million and Rupert, 36, earned £37.5 million.

The new cast is scheduled to begin filming this summer at a £1 billion mini-studio complex in Leavesden, just outside Watford, Hertfordshire. The expansive site will feature a dedicated school for the hundreds of young actors involved in the production, as well as a medical center. Additionally, a separate facility is being built to accommodate the many animals expected to appear in the series.
