In every movie premiere, the cast and crew gather to celebrate the film. With outfits created by renowned stylists, our favorite stars grace the red carpet and often include a secret message in their garments or accessories about their character. Some are quite obvious while others are truly subtle, so we made a list of creative outfits that you might have missed.

Zendaya

In 2021, at the premiere of Dune, Zendaya appeared in an asymmetrical dress created by Rick Owens and looked like her alien heroine.

Keira Knightley

When getting ready for the premiere of The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Keira Knightley decided to remind everyone of her character with the help of the gown she wore. In the movie, the actress played a Sugar Plum Fairy. And her elegant dress by Chanel resembled a sugar plum with its texture.

Aubrey Plaza and Elizabeth Olsen

The actresses wore nearly the same outfit at the premiere of Ingrid Goes West. This choice was a tribute to the movie, in which Aubrey’s character was obsessed with Olsen’s, or rather, her image on social media. Usually, stars who choose the same outfits are ridiculed, but in this case, the girls’ sense of humor was only praised.

Emma Watson

Emma Watson arrived at the world premiere of Beauty and the Beast wearing a black jumpsuit that had a rose on its waistline. This flower plays an important role in the movie — the fading of the enchanted rose is directly connected with the life of Belle’s on-screen lover. The actress’s hairstyle was complemented with hairpins in the shape of leaves.

Lily James

On-screen Cinderella, Lily James, donned the main attribute of her character — crystal shoes — to the movie premiere. They were created by the Jimmy Choo brand especially for this event. The production of these shoes required several hundred crystals. After the premiere, the Cinderella-style shoes appeared on the shelves of brand-name stores.

Angelina Jolie

Apparently, Angelina Jolie was still in her role at the premiere of Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. She appeared in an outfit that the famous dark fairy herself would’ve worn. Her black flowy Versace dress was adorned with a silver scorpion, designed to thrill everyone around her. But we are not scared of her — we know that Maleficent has a kind heart.

Elle Fanning

Elle Fanning decided to follow Angelina Jolie’s example. She also gave tribute to her character Aurora (who, according to the plot of the film, was pricked with a spindle) with the help of a Gucci dress. The actress’s glove was decorated with drops that were hinting at Aurora’s fateful trauma.

Cara Delevingne

In order to represent the flick, Valerian, Delevingne donned a futuristic style dress. It was made from thin wire. Journalists immediately stated that such an outfit takes transparent getups to a new level because this garment didn’t even have fabric. The waves on the dress matched the actress’s hair well and created a kind of intergalactic look that perfectly matched the space theme of the film.

Taron Egerton

The Hollywood actor recreated the image of his character from the biopic Rocketman by donning a denim jacket with patches. The costume designers were probably inspired by Elton John’s (played by Taron) clothes when creating this jacket.

Timothée Chalamet

At the Venice Film Festival, Timothée Chalamet donned an outfit with 2 Cartier brooches on it. The design of the jewelry fully corresponded to the aesthetic world of Dune. The first brooch looked like a sword from 1913, the second one — an art-deco style beetle that resembled the flying devices of the planet Arrakis.

At the premiere of Captain Marvel, the dress and the earrings of the actress, who played the main role, were decorated with stars. As you know, the symbol of the superheroine is an 8-pointed star.

Neil Patrick Harris

Neil Patrick Harris’s ombre-effect suit impressed everyone at the premiere of The Matrix Resurrections. The colors of the suit resembled the “calling card” of the flick — the constantly changing digit combinations in The Matrix.

Sarah Jessica Parker

At the premiere of And Just Like That... the actress was wearing a custom tulle dress by Oscar de la Renta. This detail resembles a famous tutu in which Carrie Bradshaw appears at the opening of Sex and the City. In its sequel of the year 2021, we again saw the character of Sarah Jessica Parker in a tulle skirt.

The Batman actress took inspiration from her own role as Catwoman to dress-up for the premieres of the movie in London and New York. In one of the dresses, cat heads are even well-visible.
