Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is undoubtedly one of the most loved public figures in the world. Despite his very intimidating muscular look, he seems like a very sweet and decent man. From his utter devotion to his family to his extremely kind gestures, it looks like he barely has any haters. And we are about to discover 8 very good reasons to make you love him if you don’t already.

1. He went through a tough childhood.

Born in 1972 to Ata Johnson and Rocky Johnson in California, Dwayne Johnson’s childhood consisted of many struggles and hardships. His father was a professional wrestler and the family moved around a lot, making it difficult for his mother to have a steady job. At one point, the family was so poor they could not even afford to eat dinner on Thanksgiving.

Johnson had a tough time during high school and frequently got in trouble. Although he did end up finding stability in playing football, the star was still not very passionate about it. His relationship with his father was also very complicated. Because of how much Dwayne’s father traveled, his mother was essentially a single mother and took care of him on her own.

2. He bought his mom a house.

In a recent Instagram post, the actor surprised his mother with a brand new house. In the video, you can see Dwayne showing his emotional mother around the house. He wrote, “When I was a little boy, I hated when my mom would cry — these days, I’ll happily take her tears of joy.” He also shared how his mom told him, “After a lifetime of traveling, I want this home to be my last. That’s my dream.”

3. Being a girl dad has taught him to be more gentle.

“The Rock” shared his experience of being a father to daughters, noting that it has made him more compassionate and kind. “You can be wired, as a lot of fathers are, to fix things. Just having an expanded capacity to listen and be more tender and gentle really gave me that ability to solve whatever the issue is, but with them compared to for them,” he said.

4. He is a great husband and supports women.

Aside from being a great father, he’s also a great husband and partner to his wife Lauren Hashian. He shared that he was very fortunate to fall in love once, but twice made him feel very lucky being in the position that he’s in. He also shared his admiration for his wife the day she gave birth to their daughter. He said that witnessing this special act gives you whole new respect for the strength and the beauty of the woman by your side.

In a post on Instagram, the movie star shared his heartfelt sentiment on International Women’s Day, showing his love and admiration for all the women in his life. He started his message by saying that not a day goes by without him thinking about the women in his life, and how lucky he is to have them. He continued by saying he comes from a family of beautiful, strong, diverse, and intelligent women, who inspire him daily to be a better man, father, and role model.

5. He’s not shy to show off his parenting practices online.

Johnson posted a clip on Instagram showcasing his two youngest daughters giving him a complete makeover, including applying makeup and fitting him with a blonde wig. “First morning back home with my tornados, and by 8 am they insisted on giving ‘Dwanta Claus a makeover before Christmas’. I haven’t seen myself in the mirror yet, but if I look as cool as I feel right now, then I’m winning baby,” he wrote.

6. Now that he found success, he gets to thank everyone who helped him.

As the famous actor recalled on Instagram, Bruno was one of the people that helped him “change the trajectory of the road I was going down.” Downtown Bruno gave teen Johnson a chance to change his future.

In a very emotional video that The Rock posted on his social media, he wanted to give Bruno a big surprise by gifting him a brand new truck. “Since you helped me buy my first car — I figured I could return the favor,” said the actor. Johnson even added a very nice promise at the end, saying, “When you’re ready to retire from the business, you just say the word. I got you covered.”

7. He’s always putting his family first.

The Rock is known for being a dedicated family man. He always puts his loved ones first, balancing his busy schedule as an actor, producer, and entrepreneur with quality time with his wife and children.

“Being a father to my little girls is the most important thing in my life. To raise them and always be there, during these critical years in their life. I know what it’s like to not be there all the time as a father, because of an unrelenting work schedule. I won’t let that happen ever again,” he said.

8. Dwayne Johnson cares about his fans and friends.

He is one of the most popular celebrities in the world and he has quite a lot of fans. But that doesn’t bother him, as he expressed his gratitude in an Instagram post: “I appreciate you waiting so long tonight and I have so much love and gratitude for all of you. Takin’ pics with ya is one of the best and easiest parts of my job. Always happy to do it.” He never forgets his friends either, as he gifted his stunt-double a new truck, and thanked him for all of his hard work.

Bonus: Brendan Fraser helped him at the beginning of his acting career.

At the time, Brendan Fraser was at the height of his career, having starred in big movies like The Mummy. And in 2001, The Rock was cast in the role of The Scorpion King in the sequel The Mummy Returns, and he gives major credit to Fraser for the fact that he got the part. Johnson reflected that, as the big star of the franchise, Brendan “had to okay” him being cast for the role.

And Dwayne recalls the director telling him, “Brendan loves this idea and is so happy you’re in the movie.” He explained that the trust Brendan had in him gave him all the confidence he needed as he was starting this new career path. The Rock noted, “I’d just come from WWE... And I get that kind of nod of acceptance from the star of the movie, it really meant a lot to me.”
