A Woman Barred From Boarding a Plane Due to Bikini Sparks Heated Debate on Whether It’s Okay

A 21-year-old woman alleges she was denied boarding her flight when she arrived at the gate wearing a bikini. Despite providing her reasons, she perceived this as an unjust decision, triggering a heated online debate.

Kine-Chan, a Brazilian model and cosplayer, donned a costume of the character Rebecca from the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners (2022), complete with a black bikini, blue wig, and black sandals, for an event. Subsequently, she made her way to Navegantes Airport in Brazil to catch a flight. According to her account, she encountered an obstacle when attempting to board her flight, as her attire was deemed “inappropriate.”

Chan detailed the incident on her Instagram account, providing an explanation for her choice of attire. “A very annoying situation happened this weekend,” she shared. “I tried to board at Navegantes airport dressed as Rebecca’s Cosplay for an event. I already knew that I could be late, so I was dressed so as not to waste time and could go straight to my room. But I was told to go home and change clothes because the one I was wearing was not ’appropriate’.”

In the comments section of her post, Kine-Chan’s fans promptly expressed their opinions, resulting in a variety of reactions. Some felt that the model’s outfit choice was a bit excessive, with one user suggesting, “Kine I love you, but you could have put on an easy pull-up outfit, like a falling dress or even a button-down blouse.”

“I work shows and my schedule in between shows is pretty short... I’m going with my costume and on top I’ll put a robe or an overalls! Here’s the tip for you,” said another.

Conversely, others took a different stance and rallied behind Chan. “It’s truly disheartening to hear that the airport barred you, a talented artist, due to a cosplay as incredible as Rebecca’s. Freedom of expression and creativity should always be encouraged and respected,” another person wrote in support.

Traveling, especially by plane, can indeed be a significant source of stress for many individuals. Earlier, a woman refused to give up her first-class seat to a mother with crying baby, igniting a contentious discussion about airline etiquette.
