Jessica Simpson has chosen her communication style with the audience: she strives to be as honest and open as possible. The singer shares insights into her husband, children, and family life. She also posts makeup-free and filter-free snapshots. Yet, people still manage to find something to criticize.

Jessica expressed her worries about what editing photos tells her daughters.

Simpson shared during the interview that she finds herself often questioning how she wants to raise her daughters. And one situation, when she was pressured to post a picture on social media, made her realize how she succumbed to social expectations and didn’t like a lot what that did to her or her daughters.

“I was going to post a photo because everybody’s down my neck, Jessica, you need to post, Jessica, you need to post. I’m like, OK,” she shared. “Then I go to post, and I’m like, oh, but let’s go to the FaceApp.”

“I’m like, Oh, that makes it look a little bit better. Oh, that makes it a little bit better. What has done that to me? What is that doing to my daughter? What we’re doing on social media is creating this idea of what is beautiful and setting up our lives artificially — to look good for who?” Jessica explained.

On her 43rd birthday, she posted a makeup-free photo.

In the picture, Jessica absolutely glowed as she flashed a heartwarming smile at the camera. Her signature blonde hair was slicked back flawlessly, adding to her overall charm. Trendy hoop earrings and a dazzling bejeweled necklace added a touch of sparkle, and her vibrant red top perfectly completed the look.

Opinions among her fans were divided after seeing the post.

“What’s your skincare routine!?” one of her fans commented on her photo, most likely impressed by her glowing skin.

Another fan added, “You’ve never needed makeup. Beautiful as always, Happy Birthday!”

Others, while still impressed by her beauty, didn’t quite agree with how she labeled the picture as “makeup-free.” “Beautiful, but not make up free. Mascara, lip gloss, and concealer is not makeup free,” is how most of the comments read on the post.

Another fan believes what she did is irresponsible, “You look lovely, but please don’t lie about not wearing makeup! You can see the clumpiness of your mascara. It’s irresponsible to put this message out there, as many in the comments are wondering why they don’t look this way makeup-free.”

Jessica has long chosen to openly connect with her fans.

In 2021, the singer posted a photo where she was barely recognizable. The snapshot was taken in 2017, the very moment Jessica decided to embark on the path of sobriety and transform her life. The candid photo quickly went viral, sparking a storm of reactions on the internet. “I am wildly honest and comfortably open. I am free,” she wrote.

Jessica is not the only star trying to change social media by posting unretouched photos. These celebrities also share honest selfies.
