Cinema is art, faking reality. Movie creators can make a silicone baby, make someone look decades older, and create an illusion of people sticking to walls, like a spider, thanks to hands we can’t see. We’re going to show you how certain shots from movies were actually made.

• If actors in Avengers: Endgame looked in Josh Brolin’s eyes, they would end up looking somewhere at Thanos’ chest because he was a giant. So, the actor had to wear a pole on his back with the cardboard face of Thanos.

• Also, it’s probably very difficult to act when someone, who you’re supposed to hate, keeps running around the set wearing gray sweatpants and smiling. So, Elizabeth Olsen, who played the grieving Scarlet Witch, couldn’t help but laugh behind the scenes, watching one of the most dramatic scenes in Avengers: Infinity War.

• Like Thanos, the character of Mark Ruffalo, Hulk, was obviously totally CGI. Everyone knows this, but not everybody realizes what it means. Mark Ruffalo didn’t need any makeup before he appeared on the set.

• Even though some people say that Tobey Maguire could do all the stunts himself, we understand that neither he, nor Tom Holland, can stick to vertical surfaces. They were literally held by the hands of the staff on the set.

And in order to make the scenes look very realistic, each of them was shot 3 times: with Evans, with Deeny, and without the actors at all.

• The crew of Ghost in the Shell had way less work to do. Scarlett Johansson spent almost the entire film in beige sweatpants, except for the scenes where she was injured. These spots were dyed green.

• The universe of the original Star Wars trilogy was almost completely in George Lucas’ garage. 40 years later, the directors of Avengers: Infinity War raised the bar, creating giant studios. But even they are not always enough, so they end up resorting to green screens and treadmills.

• Not a single underwater scene in Aquaman was actually shot underwater. The actors were floating on special things, and their hair was added in post-production. But the sea set was actually modeled.
