We get our genes from our parents, so generally, this means that we are supposed to look like both of them. However, this is not always the case: some kids look like one of their parents, or sometimes they don’t resemble any of their parents. That’s because the end result of gene mixing is not as straightforward, and also, as we grow, some genes can be turned on and off.
