Jessica Biel Revealed Her First Periods’ Details, Sharing She Was “Crying Hysterically”
Talking about periods can be hard and is often considered a taboo, especially with kids. Recently, Jessica Biel released a book on this topic and shared her own personal stories. She hopes to make it easier for everyone to talk about periods openly and without embarrassment.
Jessica Biel, mom of two sons, Silas, 9, and Phineas, 4, whom she shares with her pop superstar husband, Justin Timberlake, has written a new book for kids about periods. In it, she shares simple, honest information and her own personal stories. Her goal is to help kids understand and feel comfortable talking about periods. The book aims to break the taboo and make it easier for everyone to discuss this natural part of growing up.
She said, “I know having open conversations with your kids about periods can be intimidating... but that’s why I wrote this book! Empower your kids with knowledge from the get-go. You can read it anywhere, literally.”
She often appears in her social media with this delicate theme. Biel talked about “it’s so hard when you’re trying to hide” your period. She noted that it makes you “feel embarrassed” and “ashamed by it,” just like she was when she got her first period.
She shared a “funny story” about that day. “I was like 11 years old, and I was playing the grandfather character, which was one of the best characters of the show,” Jessica recalled.
The actress added, “I was so scared, I locked myself in the bathroom. I was crying hysterically, I called my mom. I told her, you know, ’something’s wrong.’ That’s what I felt, I felt like something was wrong with me. Even though she had prepared me, I wasn’t prepared.”
“And to this day, I’m still hiding tampons up my sleeve as I scurry away to the bathroom, which is insane. You should not feel that way at 42,” she added. “I ended up doing my play, my mom helped me out, hooked me up. It was bizarre, I managed to do everything I needed to do that day and still have my period, so pass that around.
I know this was the story you all were waiting for. But actually, can we talk about this?? Periods are cool!” she wrote under the video.
Some may be surprised by such frankness with the audience. But this is Jessica’s style
Jessica shares with her fans not only her creativity, but also important events in her life. Time and again, she proves that openness is the main secret of her popularity and universal love.
Whether it’s a new hairstyle, a family celebration or her worries about an occasion, the actress doesn’t hesitate to talk about it.
Jessica loves to surprise fans in her social media. Like she did before, when revealed a new bob haircut in a video showing her cutting off her hair. “Brought back the bob,” Biel captioned the post. In the video, the mother of two is seen holding strands of her hair while sitting in a dressing room, wearing an oversized printed T-shirt.
This wass Jessica’s second hair transformation in a month. Her dramatic haircut comes just over a week after she appeared in New York City with platinum blonde hair, following her honey-colored hairstyle showcased at the 2024 Met Gala.
It’s great that celebrities like Jessica Biel help make such conversations more common and less awkward by sharing their own stories. Her efforts help parents make important subjects, like periods, easier to discuss openly.
