It’s very common for the human body to develop warts. But sometimes they impact our appearance very much. They can be removed easily by following some hygiene practices and applying home remedies. We’ve suggested the root causes and a few tips for you below.

1. Don’t use someone else’s towel.

Sharing a towel with your family members from time to time may seem harmless, but it’s actually one of the reasons why annoying papillomas and warts can appear on your skin. If someone in your family has a wart, there’s a chance using the same towel will transmit it from one person to another. Make sure everyone has their own towels and other personal items, such as washcloths and nail clippers.

2. Make sure to wear flip-flops at the pool.

While it may feel pleasant to walk barefoot on the warm floor around the swimming pool, there are actually many reasons to put your flip-flops on, and preventing warts is one of them. Warm and humid environments create the perfect breeding ground for bacteria, and when your skin is moist and soft it makes it more vulnerable to various infections, including Human papillomavirus. Wearing your flip-flops at public showers and swimming pools can reduce your risk of getting warts on your feet.

3. Break the habit of biting your nails.

Nail biting is a habit many people find hard to break. But even if you’re not ready to do it for the health of your teeth, consider doing it for the beauty of your skin. Biting your nails creates tiny tears in your skin, and although you might not see them, they allow the virus that causes warts to get inside your body.

4. Cover your cuts and scrapes.

Cleaning and covering your cuts can help them heal faster, and can also protect you from getting warts. If you happen to touch something contaminated with the virus that causes warts, there’s a chance it can get inside your body through the scrape.

5. Avoid shaving over a wart.

Shaving allows you to get rid of unwanted hair in no time, but if you have a wart it’s better to opt for other hair removal methods. When you shave, you create micro cuts in your skin, and it may spread the virus that causes warts to any skin that you shave. Shaving over a wart and then shaving other areas on your body can lead to several new warts on your skin.

6. Moisturize your skin.

Keeping your skin hydrated is essential for helping it stay youthful and wrinkle-free for longer. But using the right moisturizer regularly can also help to prevent warts. When your skin is overly dry, it makes it easier for Human papillomavirus to get through cracks in your skin and cause those disturbing warts to appear.

7. Try home remedies

You can also use many things available in your home to treat your warts, such as:

  1. Pineapple: This fruit is rich in bromelain which helps in eradicating dead and damaged skin. You can soak the wart in pineapple juice daily or you can apply fresh pineapple every day.
  2. Dandelion weed: Here, break apart a dandelion and squeeze it in a way that the sticky white sap comes out. Apply this on your wart one or two times a day. It is recommended to try this method for 14 days. Avoid using dandelion sprayed with chemicals.
  3. Aloe vera: This helps in providing relief from itchy or painful warts. Remove a leaf from the aloe plant and cut it. Then, take some gel and apply it directly onto the wart. Try this method daily.
