Hold On to Your Seat: Ryan Reynolds Is Bringing “ALF” Back to Our Screens

The beloved and witty extraterrestrial, ALF, is making a grand return to Earth, all thanks to Ryan Reynolds. The iconic 80’s sitcom is set to grace the screens once more and we have all the details!

In a remarkable venture orchestrated by Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort, a film production company the Canadian actor co-founded in 2018, ALF is soaring through time from the ’80s to the present day.

Bringing the cherished character back to life is a collaborative effort between Reynolds, ALF’s creator Paul Fusco, and the recently rebranded Shout! Studios. However, the revival won’t follow the conventional format of full-length episodes. Instead, the channel will treat fans to a delightful blend of classic ALF episodes, expertly interspersed with ALF-centric shorts that showcase prominent brands.

“At Maximum Effort, we love taking risks and blurring the lines between shows and sponsorship because we believe both can be equally entertaining,” Reynolds said. “Besides my irrational love of ALF growing up, one of the reasons we licensed this show was precisely because Paul, Shout! Studios, and our intrepid brand partners wanted to plot with us to bring ALF back to life.”

The impeccably styled puppet, masterfully performed by Paul Fusco, originally captivated audiences during the show’s run from 1986 to 1990. ALF’s endearing escapades revolved around a heartwarming tale of a family who took him in after he crash-landed in their garage, and subsequently embarked on a mission to protect him from nosy neighbors and government agencies, all while sharing laughter and love.

ALF isn’t the only thing making a return to our screens though. Harry Potter is too, and this time as a TV series. Although the cast is probably still far from being announced, we’ve already made a list of who we’d like to see playing the characters in the Harry Potter universe in the TV show.
