Jeff Bezos’ Wife Sparks Controversy with Her Wedding Dress — People Accuse Her of Copying Kate Middleton

Lauren Sánchez’s extravagant Venice wedding to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos continues to make headlines — but not exactly in the way she might have wished. Her Dolce & Gabbana gown, intended as a fairytale statement, has sparked comparisons online to a well-known royal wedding dress. While some admired the romantic lace, others — particularly fans of Kate Middleton — were less convinced.

Lauren walked down the aisle in a custom Dolce & Gabbana gown that featured a high lace neckline, long sleeves, a row of delicate buttons, and a flowing train. It was a striking look; elegant, timeless, and clearly crafted to make a statement.

The dress exuded strong princess vibes, which didn’t sit well with everyone. For many, it was too reminiscent of the gown Kate Middleton wore when she married Prince William in 2011 — a look that has since become a modern royal classic.

Interestingly, some fashion experts have noted that Kate Middleton’s dress also shares similarities with other royal wedding gowns we’ve seen in the past. The gown that Middleton’s piece, designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, most closely resembles is the one Grace Kelly wore for her wedding to Prince Rainier of Monaco. Both dresses share similar details, such as the high lace collar and long sleeves.

The Internet quickly noticed the royal resemblance.

Online, fans of royal fashion were quick to draw comparisons. They pointed out the near-identical neckline, lace overlay, and even the silhouette, which mirrored Kate’s McQueen masterpiece.

Some even joked that it looked like a blend of Kate and Pippa Middleton’s wedding looks, with the top half reflecting Kate’s regal lace and the bottom-hugging Lauren’s figure in a way that screamed Pippa’s now-famous bridesmaid gown.

The responses were divided. While some admired the gown and felt it complemented Lauren perfectly, many others remained unconvinced that it truly stood out — and they didn’t hesitate to voice their opinions.

The reactions varied widely. One person remarked, “Lace designs have been around forever. Kate Middleton does not own anything, and there was even a Royal bride in Italy with a similar dress months before hers. Mrs Bezos, unexpectedly, pulled a beautiful and proper wedding dress.” Meanwhile, another commented, “How can you compare her dress to Kate Middleton’s? Lauren Sanchez again chose to wear a corset for her wedding. Corset dress, corset top, now corset wedding dress. She looks like she’s being strangled. But it’s her choice.”

Whether an intentional tribute or simply a charming coincidence, she was all smiles on her big day.

Was Lauren copying Kate’s dress, or simply embracing a popular bridal trend? That question remains open for debate. What’s undeniable, however, is that Kate’s dress set the gold standard for lace gowns and has shaped wedding fashion for more than a decade.

Lauren’s look might have been a subtle tribute to royalty, or perhaps she simply chose what made her feel most confident. Either way, when you’re marrying one of the wealthiest men in the world in a gown like that, people are bound to talk — and compare.
