A few years ago, the name of designer Vera Wang became known even to those far from the fashion world. At the age of 70, she shared a photo that made everyone doubt their vision. Four years later, Vera continues to amaze everyone with her youthful appearance and toned figure.

The photo that started it all...

In May 2020, the famous designer, who was 70 at the time posted an Instagram photo showing her wearing a cropped sports bra and white shorts along with a sparkly hair accessory from her own fashion line. The photo collected more than 34,000 likes and a slew of comments, mostly of people gushing over her youthful looks and asking her the secret behind her incredible physique.

Wang herself doesn’t really understand what all this hype is about, declaring, “I don’t get it.”

Speaking on the context in which the now famous photo was taken, Wang shared that everything happened in a natural, sporadic way. She noted, “If we planned something like this, it would’ve never happened.”

The 73-year-old explained that she simply was about to go on the treadmill when a friend asked to take her photo.

Further, discussing the astonishment surrounding her age-defying looks, Wang noted, “I guess it’s just that people have an idea of what 70 looks like today. I have so many friends that are 65 to 70 that look fabulous.”

The wedding dress designer added, “I hope it makes women feel more comfortable with themselves or confident, or there are many definitions of what a woman can be.”

Her secret to looking so great

Wang continues to fascinate the world with the gorgeous pics she regularly posts on her Instagram. And most of the commenters can’t help but ask, “Tell us where the fountain of youth is, please.”

However, the designer’s secrets aren’t that impossible to achieve nor are they complicated to follow.
In fact, the renowned designer believes “working keeps you young.” She explained, “It keeps your mind young, and your spirit up and your relevance up, which I think affects your body.”

Vera has a few more secrets that help her maintain her youthfulness.

Vera Wang has a lot of allergies, so she’s very careful with the kinds of products she uses. When she was younger, Vera was a shower person — but now she likes to take baths more often, especially since they are calming. One of the most important she does is moisturize, so baby oil really works for her when it comes to nourishing and soothing her skin. Her second most important thing is sunblock, and she likes to use a moisturizer with SPF 30.

In her line of work, Vera has to constantly be looking at her phone, computer, and TV screens. She believes that glasses made for protecting your eyes are extremely important for saving your irises and pupils — “we need to be mindful because the damage will catch up to us eventually.” Vera has also been curating a collection of more than a thousand pairs of sunglasses since 1973, when she was the accessories’ editor at Vogue.

Vera likes to keep her weight training light and fast, and doesn’t lift weights that are heavier than 2 or 3 pounds, which takes her a total of 5 minutes. Her go-to exercise is bike riding, and she loves cycling around her neighborhood whenever she has free time. However, she doesn’t really enjoy working out. That’s why she’d rather play golf, and claims she is “terrible but enthusiastic.”

Surprisingly, Vera admitted that she doesn’t restrict herself in terms of food and enjoys fast food. Perhaps genetics played a role in her graceful and slow aging, and these famous women are in no way inferior to her.
