Lindsey Parr Gritton was on the brink of welcoming a new addition to her family when she received heartbreaking news that suggested a significant change in her family’s future. Fortunately, this story concludes with a very happy ending.

Lindsey received a breast cancer diagnosis during her 36th week of pregnancy.

In April 2022, Lindsey Parr Gritton, a mother from Georgia, USA, found herself in the 36th week of her second pregnancy when she experienced a burning sensation in her breast. Recounting the initial visit to the healthcare provider, she shared, “I went there, and she thought it was a clogged duct or like mastitis of some sort. They didn’t suspect anything.”

However, Lindsey’s own intuition led her to request an ultrasound, a decision she believes made a crucial difference. She emphasized, “I literally saved my own life just by asking for that.”

A few days later, after undergoing the ultrasound, Lindsey received a distressing call on the same day, revealing that the lump was highly suspected to be cancerous.

The young mom received the devastating news that she had only six months to live.

Shortly after, Gritton learned that she had a highly aggressive form of breast cancer. Expressing the collective shock within her family, she stated, “Everyone was just devastated and couldn’t believe it, because we don’t have any history of breast cancer in my family on either side. My mom or my dad’s side, no cancer at all, really. It was a shock.”

Merely a week after the joyous arrival of her daughter, Gritton, who also has a 3-year-old daughter, received the heartbreaking news that she had only six months to live. Unfortunately, the cancer had already spread, and she had over a dozen tumors in her liver. “It was like the day after, and it was just all bad news.”

Fortunately, after the treatment she became cancer-free.

Throughout her six months of treatment, Gritton emphasized that she continued to make an effort to spend quality time with her family, cherishing every moment because she believed her time was limited. “I was taking in every second, trying to soak up everything,” she remembers. “I made a scrapbook, I wrote letters to my kids, I made videos, everything. I was trying to do everything I could.”

Fortunately, by the end of the treatment, test results showed no presence of cancer. “We were so happy after we found out there was no cancer in my body. We couldn’t, honestly, no one could believe it. It was really crazy and surreal.”

Now Lindsey actively raises awareness about this illness online.

A year and a half post-diagnosis, Lindsey Parr Gritton is experiencing a newfound sense of well-being. She embraces precious moments with her family, marking significant milestones such as her 30th birthday and her daughter Savannah’s first birthday. “It’s really surreal because I just didn’t think I’d be here. So every moment is just incredible,” she expresses.

Gritton took to online platforms to share her story and raise awareness about breast cancer in young adults. Unexpectedly, her videos gained popularity on TikTok, enabling her to connect with individuals who have undergone similar experiences. Through social media, she has forged meaningful friendships.

Drawing public attention to the issue of breast cancer and the importance of regular checkups is crucial because it can affect not only everyday women but also celebrities like Christina Applegate. Despite overcoming breast cancer, the renowned actress now faces the challenge of battling another serious disease.
