10+ Simple Makeup Tips to Let Your Natural Beauty Shine to the Fullest
With the beauty industry growing so fast, we can probably find anything we can imagine on the market. At the same time, navigating through all these new products can be tricky sometimes, as makeup is not just for erasing pimples, it’s a means of self-expression for many people, so it might get a bit complicated. Don’t worry though — we’re here to help you out.
We at Now I’ve Seen Everything prepared some beauty hacks that will up your game right here.
1. Add brightness to your face
Look for a concealer with good coverage and try to apply it in an inverted triangle shape — this will add additional brightness to your face.
2. Use foundation first, then concealer.
- Apply liquid foundation using a beauty blender.
- Then apply concealer under your eyes and on blemishes before blending it all in with a beauty blender. This way, everything will stay where it’s supposed to and you won’t need to fix it several times.
Tip: An oil-free foundation will stay put best because it doesn’t contain the emollient ingredients that can make makeup slide off your face.
3. Reduce the swelling of the bags under your eyes
This trick will come in handy when you want to get rid of those bags that appear under your eyes or if you simply want to freshen up your look. Put a couple of spoons in the freezer for at least half an hour. Then place them under your eyes and move them gently toward the direction of your ears. This massage will decrease the swelling of the bags brought about by tiredness or water retention.
4. Change the shape of the eyelid for symmetry
If one of your eyelids looks smaller, you can either make it look larger or minimize the larger lid.
- To make the smaller lid look larger, apply a shimmery cream color all over the lid. Then use a peachy nude tone pencil on the inner rim.
- To make the other lid look smaller, apply a matte taupe shadow to the lid. Then finish with a dark brown pencil on both inner rims.
5. Make your eyes look bigger with eyeshadow
The colors of the eyeshadows you use can have a big impact on how small or big your eyes look. Try to look for light pastel shimmery shades and apply them to the middle of your eyelid area to make your eyes pop and look brighter overall.
6. Apply a hyaluronic acid serum.
Using hyaluronic acid on your lips will make them look more moisturized and, eventually, plumper.
After applying it, finish with a balm made of natural oils or beeswax to ensure the moisture doesn’t escape. This way, your lips can look plumper all day long.
7. Choose a cream blush.
- Gel, liquid, and cream blushes are highly pigmented, which is why they last longer.
Tip: If you still prefer powder blush, use a slightly brighter shade than what you think you should use. It will fade away throughout the day and turn into a more subtle color.
8. Balance out an uneven nose
- If your nose looks uneven, try to blend a matte taupe contour powder more heavily on the side of your nose that is fuller.
- You can also add a pearly brightener down the center of the nose to create more balance.
9. Use spoons for massaging your skin.
This trick is pretty useful if you want to decongest your skin and increase its elasticity. Use the back side of the spoon to massage the main lines of the face. Move it in an upward and outward direction. This will help you boost blood flow and give you a fresh and well-rested appearance. You can use 2 spoons to massage both sides of the face simultaneously.
10. Brush your lips to make them puffier.
Rubbing a soft toothbrush over your lips can exfoliate them, improving circulation and instantly making them look fuller. You’ll see your lips thicken slightly, getting a slight natural pink tone as well.
All you need to do is wet your brush with water and gently massage your lips in a circular motion.
11. Apply lipstick in layers.
This technique will give your lipstick a base to hold onto without drying out and cracking your lips.
- Apply your lipstick as usual, then blot it with a tissue.
- Using a brush, dust your lips with a translucent finishing powder.
- Add another layer of your lipstick and repeat all the steps until you get the result that you want.
Tip: Apply the lipstick with a brush — it presses the pigment deeper into your lips than a tube or your finger would.
12. Put some shimmer in the inner corner
For even more brightness, add a shimmer or even a tiny bit of highlighter to the inner corners and brow bone. This step is key because it creates dimension and will really make your eyes look awake.
13. Opt for nude or natural tones for fuller lips.
If you have thin lips, dark colors can make them look flatter and smaller than they already are.
Experts advise using natural shades or nude. If desired, apply a gloss over your lipstick to make your lips appear fuller.
