A Couple Received a Baby Shower on the Plane After Adopting Their Baby Daughter

If you’ve ever taken a flight, you are aware of how uncomfortable it can be to sit next to a crying infant. However, the presence of Dustin Moore and his wife Caren’s small child proved to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for the passengers who boarded the same flight as them.

Dustin and his spouse departed in November 2019 on a Southwest Airlines flight, returning to California along with their 8-day-old daughter that they had recently adopted from Colorado.

Upon boarding the aircraft with his partner, Moore promptly expressed regret to his fellow travelers. Both of them realized they could cause a lot of trouble for the people seated nearby as he maneuvered the aisle with four bags and his wife carried the priceless bundle.

Having battled for nine years to become parents, the newlyweds were ecstatic on that day that they had been “blessed with their first child.” They didn’t know what surprises other passengers on that plane would have in store for them, but they felt scared but determined in their new role as parents.

Their infant daughter woke up in the middle of the flight and Dustin had to ask the crew for a table so they could change her. Jenny, a very considerate flight attendant, gave them privacy and made room for them in the back of the aircraft.

Following the altercation, Moore told Jenny and another traveler their story of adopting the infant and planning to bring her home in response to their question about why the couple was traveling with such a small child. The passengers expressed their admiration and congratulations for their lovely daughter.

Around 10 minutes later, Bobby, another flight attendant, approached the couple with a friendly demeanor, inquiring about their baby. After sharing their story with a few extra details, they received more well-wishes before Bobby left. Unexpectedly, Bobby’s voice echoed through the intercom, revealing a surprise. He announced the presence of a special guest: their daughter!

He joyfully announced, “She’s just been adopted by her parents Caren and Dustin, making her way home.” This sparked cheers and applause throughout the entire cabin. Interestingly, Jenny did more than just extend congratulations; she shared the couple’s story with the rest of the crew members.

Bobby invited all the passengers to write down some pieces of advice or encouragement for the family and the crew passed out pens and napkins to everyone. Then Bobby gathered all the napkins and started reading some of the messages over the intercom:

  • “Rub each other’s feet, and rub the baby’s feet.”
  • “Make time for date night.”
  • “Always tell her you love her.”
  • “Enjoy every minute. It goes by sooo very fast.”

Bobby and Jenny ended up collecting about 60 messages for the new parents. They also presented the couple with a set of pilot wings for their daughter.

It turned out that the two flight attendants were married, and on their honeymoon flight, they received a similar act of kindness from someone. Therefore they believed that this was the ideal chance to repay the Moores for their kindness.

The kindness of the passengers and crew members greatly touched the couple. The outpouring of love from that flight, caused by the actions of 2 thoughtfully observant flight attendants, is beyond words to express what it meant to Dustin and me," Dustin wrote on his Twitter page. How much the written notes and wings encouraged the two new parents who were determined to love their new daughter."

Adopting children is one of the most emotional and powerful things one person can do. In some cases, people adopt kids when they lose their parents so they won’t end up in orphanages. But even if they do end up in these institutions, being adopted is always in the horizon.
