A Woman Cheated Death Without Realizing It, and Here’s Her Caution for Everyone

A woman innocently snapped a selfie during her morning stroll, but when she shared it online later that day, she was startled by comments from people who claimed she had been “dangerously close to a life-threatening situation.” She now aims to alert others to the hidden peril she unknowingly encountered.

Natalie Stevens, hailing from Jersey, an island in the UK, took to Facebook to post a selfie revealing her hair standing on end. In the caption, she detailed experiencing “a peculiar, tingling sensation in her head and forehead” while her “hair remained statically charged for approximately 10 to 15 minutes” during her early morning dog walk at 7:30 AM. She also noted the distant sound of thunder from the French coast.

Initially sharing the incident in a lighthearted manner, she playfully joked about it in the comments. “I did start to get a little nervous and headed higher up the beach,” she quipped. “Goodness knows what it would have looked like if I hadn’t had my hair tied back! It was a really weird sensation.”

However, individuals in the comment section swiftly admonished her for making light of the situation, emphasizing the potential severity of the incident. “You were about 2 minutes away from dying or being severely hurt,” one user cautioned. This sobering remark garnered support from others and experts alike.

“An electric charge builds up as part of a ‘positive lightning strike.’ This charge is responsible for your hair standing on end. Even if the storm seems distant, this electric charge is a clear indicator that you should seek shelter as swiftly as possible,” another user elucidated, and this insight was corroborated by specialists at the US National Weather Service.

The team of specialists issued a vital warning, stating, “If your hair stands on end, lightning is about to strike you. Drop to your knees and bend forward, but don’t lie flat on the ground. Wet ground is a good conductor of electricity,” They further advised, “It is also recommended you get far away from the beach when storms roll in.”

It’s essential to bear this information in mind, as we’ve observed that nature can be exceedingly unpredictable.
