Courteney Cox Reveals She Dissolved Her Fillers After Regretting Them

Courteney Cox, the beloved star of the hit show Friends, has long been admired for her beauty. But like many in the entertainment industry, she once felt pressure to turn to cosmetic procedures to stay relevant — a choice she later came to regret. Today, Cox speaks openly about her journey, her experience with cosmetic work, and why she ultimately chose to embrace a more natural approach to aging.

How it all started

After Courteney Cox starred as the iconic character, Monica Geller, on Friends, she decided to start her journey with plastic surgery. She was the second-oldest cast member when the sitcom was in its first season. The show lasted 10 seasons, at the end of which Cox was 40. By that time, the star wasn’t pleased with the way she looked, and she wanted to keep up with the times in a way that was anything but maintenance, and that’s when she started getting injectable fillers.

Working in an industry where being young and beautiful is the key to success is definitely tough. “Hollywood makes it hard; this business makes it harder,” the star admitted. “I grew up thinking appearance was the most important thing. That as long as I looked okay, I would be okay.”

How it became a routine

She opened up about the impact of fillers on her appearance. On the Gloss Angeles podcast, the Friends and Scream VI star talked about how her view of her face became distorted before she decided to have her fillers dissolved. She described how it started a “domino effect” where she didn’t realize she looked different, so she kept getting more fillers, thinking she looked normal.

At 58, Courteney shared how she used to look in the mirror and think she looked good, not realizing how it appeared to others. She did too many fillers and eventually had to have them removed. Thankfully, fillers are reversible. She admitted that she made mistakes but was able to reverse most of them, now embracing her natural, older look.

Cox’s regret and the decision to get her procedures reversed

The Friends alumna admitted that she may have gone overboard in her pursuit to keep looking young. She couldn’t see the results while undergoing the procedure, as the changes happened gradually. But she eventually got a wake-up call when she realized her inner circle was talking about how she looked.

She reflected on how sometimes you try to improve your appearance, but then see a picture of yourself and realize it doesn’t look good. She has done things she regrets but is grateful that fillers can dissolve and go away. Courteney confirmed that she had all her facial fillers dissolved in 2017.

Today, she is opting for a more natural approach.

“You need movement in your face, especially if you have thin skin like I do. Those aren’t wrinkles, they’re smile lines. I’ve had to learn to embrace movement and realize that fillers are not my friend,” the actress finally admitted. And today, after having dissolved all her fillers, Cox is feeling like her best self and is totally comfortable in her own skin.

The much-loved Friends character will turn 59 in June this year, looking just as glamorous as ever. And she admits that she’s at a stage of her life where she’s the most confident she’s ever been. “I kind of own everything. And the things that I am not as comfortable with myself, they’re things that I continue to work on to grow and change,” she stated.

Here, you can also learn about other celebrities who admitted they regretted getting fillers — and eventually chose to dissolve them.
