Get Ready for “Beetlejuice 2”: Michael Keaton Says It’s the “Most Fun” He’s Had on a Movie Set
It’s been over three decades since the release of the iconic movie Beetlejuice and fans have been eagerly waiting for a sequel. Finally, the wait is over as Warner Bros. announced the release of Beetlejuice 2 on September 6, 2024. The movie will see the return of Michael Keaton as the ghost with the most, and he recently shared his thoughts on the upcoming project.
In a recent interview with Empire Magazine, Keaton expressed his excitement about reprising his role as Beetlejuice. He said, “Beetlejuice is the most fun you can have working. It’s so fun, it’s so great. And you know what it is? We’re doing it exactly like we did.” Keaton also revealed that he and director Tim Burton agreed to follow the same formula as the original 1988 film.
“We both agreed, if it happens, it has to be done as close to the way we made it the first time. Making stuff up, making stuff happen, improvising and riffing, but literally handmade stuff like people creating things with their hands and building something,” he said.
Keaton’s excitement for the project is palpable, and he praised the “handmade” nature of the movie. Despite the project being in development hell for decades, the return of cast members like Winona Ryder confirms that it’s going to be a direct sequel set in contemporary times.
Fans of the original movie can rejoice as Beetlejuice 2 is finally happening, and Michael Keaton’s recent comments have only added to the excitement. With the return of the original cast and the same formula as the first movie, it’s sure to be a fun-filled ride. As Keaton said, “It’s the most fun I’ve had working on a movie in I can’t tell you how long”. We can’t wait to see what the movie has in store for us!
