While some celebrities try to live a cloistered lifestyle and hide the details of their private lives, Amy Schumer has chosen a different path. She is extremely open with the public. Health problems, the difficulties of motherhood, mental anguish — the star shares it all on TV shows and social media. And for this, she receives incredible love from her fans.

The long-awaited meeting with Mr. Right

Amy Schumer has never been known for her many romances. She has dated professional wrestler Nick Nemeth and comedian Anthony Jeselnik. More about her private life was unknown to the public. The reason for this silence was simple: the star was simply comfortable being out of relationships, being alone.

Amy Schumer was never a big fan of marriage and the types of relationships people get in just to avoid being single. In her memoirs, she said that she felt full without a husband and child, “I felt pretty and strong in my own skin. ...I was feeling like I had it all.”

She was single at the same time her career was developing, and it was a great match for her pace of life. This is why there was very little information about her romances in the media.

But eventually she found the man she wanted to start a family with. She announced her romance with her future husband, chef Chris Fisher, just days before they were to marry. She even said in an interview that marriage was not an impulsive decision.

By the time they got married, they had been living together for six months and dating for a year. “It’s not a long courtship, but it’s not like we had a great weekend in Vegas and threw in the towel.”

The couple thanks Amy’s personal assistant for helping them meet each other, as she is also Chris’ sister. The chef cooked dinner for the actress and her sister.

Chris Fisher is also a star, but in the cooking world rather than in show business. He continues the Fisher cooking dynasty. Before he met Amy, he even wrote his own book that won the James Beard award and arranged dinners for very high-ranking officials.

Living with a husband who has autism spectrum disorder

Chris Fisher is a unique person, but not only because of his cooking talents. The famous chef is autistic. Amy Schumer herself talked about it in March 2019, during one of her stand-up shows: “My husband was diagnosed with what used to be called Asperger’s. He has autism spectrum disorder. He’s on the spectrum.”

But after she learned about his illness, she finally realized what determines her love for him. “All of the characteristics that make it clear that he’s on the spectrum are all of the reasons that I fell madly in love with him...”

The difficulties of becoming a mother

3 months later, the day Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had a child, Amy and Chris had a baby, too. They named him Gene Attell Fischer (but soon changed it to David, because it sounded awkward).

Amy Schumer’s pregnancy was tough. She was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, so she often had nausea, and needed doctors’ supervision. She shared, “I am in my 3rd trimester, and I am still nauseous all the time and vomiting.”

The labor wasn’t easy, either. Aside from hyperemesis, the 38-year-old star suffered from endometriosis. Amy decided to have a C-section when she was 39 weeks pregnant. But the surgery was very long, and it took 3 hours instead of 90 minutes. In one of her interviews, she said that labor is the worst thing a woman has to do, but it’s worth it.

However, all the difficulties of pregnancy kept Amy Schumer positive about having children. A year later, her husband and Amy decided to try for another child. In order to give David a sibling, they had to resort to IVF.

The actress did not hesitate to tell her fans about this and asked them to share their personal stories. She admitted that the preparation for the procedure was very difficult for her and she is unlikely to repeat it or get pregnant in the future.

In September 2021, endometriosis led to complications for Amy, a 40-year-old public figure who shared the experience on Instagram. She underwent a procedure in which the doctor removed 30 endometriosis spots and her appendix, which the condition had affected.

Following the surgery, Amy felt relieved and energised asshe was no longer bothered by the pain. She firmly believes that her life will be much more joyful now. She expressed, “I’m feeling really hopeful and I am really glad that I did it, and I think it’s going to change my life.”

Self-love

Now Amy Schumer is enjoying every moment of her life to the maximum. She opted for having liposuction, a procedure she couldn’t consider some years ago. Now, she ultimately feels that she successfully completed her challenging journey to regain her feminine strength and well-being. “I feel good. Finally. It’s been a journey, thanks for helping me get my strength back.”

They’re presently relishing their little family with their partner and putting emphasis on maintaining harmony.

Perhaps that’s why fans adore Schumer. Amy is honest whether she succeeds on the red carpet or fails in public. And, incidentally, her honesty on social media is likely one of the rare opportunities for fans to get to know the star better. Autograph signings and fan gatherings are not her preferred activities.
