7 Secrets You Should Know About Shopping

Most of us will often go online or take a stroll around the stores and will buy things that we don’t actually need. This is due to our impulsivity and letting our wants get control of ourselves. However, even in those cases, it is pretty easy to get tricked and end up with the short end of a stick. That’s why we should know when it’s the best time to buy and what precautions we should take it possible.

Now I’ve Seen Everything would like you to be aware of the marketing tricks businesses use to sell you their stuff and how to keep yourself protected while shopping.

1. Prices ending in .99

We tend to buy the item that costs $3.99 rather than the one for $4.00, even though the difference is just 1 cent. As we read from left to right, we see the left digit first and instinctively focus on it. Due to that, we buy more low-value goods with prices that end in .99.

2. Keep the products in your cart

Putting the products you intend to buy in the cart can help you avoid impulse purchases, as most sellers dislike unclosed deals and will try to keep you by providing a lower price or coupons. However, remember that this strategy is only applicable if you have an account on the merchant’s website and are logged in when you leave your cart.

3. Use multiple emails

Some online stores will provide coupons that can only be used once by a specific fraction of their consumers. By creating numerous email addresses and signing up for their newsletter, you have a better chance of getting chosen and receiving vouchers with a 50% discount.

4. Giving you something for free

You may get an offer to receive something for free while buying an item. Just remember that you actually pay for those goods by spending more on the initial one. Psychologically, anything that’s granted for free looks attractive to us. We like to think we’re getting a great deal. So, although retailers just wrap shipping costs into the price, just seeing the word “free” can have a significant impact on our purchasing decision.

5. What’s the purpose of cookies

This is what cookies can do:

  • Collect information about the pages you visit and your activities on a website.
  • Allow the site to recognize you by remembering your user ID, keeping track of your preferences and even offer an online shopping cart.
  • Customize your browsing.
  • Show ads that are targeted to you.

6. Shop on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays

Weekdays are best for online shopping. Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays are the greatest days for discounts because there are fewer individuals online. Shops are attempting to convince customers to place an order. On Saturdays and Sundays, more people are online. Sellers, during those days, raise their prices.

7. The compromise effect

People are likely to choose the middle-priced item, especially when it comes to seemingly unimportant purchasing. Customers think that it’s safe to go for this price, and nothing can go wrong.

For example, you may have to choose between 3 pairs of jeans without knowing much about their brand or quality. The prices are $35, $45 and $55. Most likely, you’ll choose the second pair for $45. Using this trick, sellers can change prices a bit and make you buy the item they want you to.

Have you noticed any other tricks that stores use in order to make you spend more? Or maybe you have some useful advice on when and how to shop if we want to save money.
