Sofia Franklyn, 31, openly acknowledges that she values financial stability in her relationships. In a viral TikTok video, she candidly shared her preference for dating affluent individuals and her practice of requesting a prospective partner’s bank statements during the initial encounter. While some were quick to pass judgment on Franklin’s dating criteria, many found her approach to be quite practical and reasonable.

Franklyn made quite a stir with her revelation.

Podcaster Sofia Franklyn has made it clear that she “only wants to date a wealthy guy.” She has even gone to the extent of requesting men’s bank statement information during their initial date as a prerequisite for progressing to the next stage of the relationship.

“I’m not joking. I’ve asked the last 3 dudes I’ve dated for their bank account info on the first date,” Franklyn sincerely admitted.

A guest on Franklyn’s podcast commented on this revelation, saying, “I don’t judge people’s actions. I look at the intention behind it. So, like, why do you ask for that?”

The young woman has a compelling reason behind her unconventional dating hack.

Franklyn candidly provided her reasoning behind her chosen approach. She stated, “I have a job. I’m very successful. So I think I have every right to be like, ’Hi, are we on the same level, or am I wasting my time?’” She emphasized her interest in knowing potential partners’ bank account details, adding, “Especially if they’re under 5’10”.“

I do that and, if they don’t show me, I’ll still go on like a second, third date, but I need to know at a certain point. A lot of people think that’s just crazy of me to do, I don’t think it’s that crazy.”

The podcaster also shared a clip of her recent interview on TikTok with the caption, “I think I’m just being efficient?”

Franklyn’s words sparked a flurry of reactions from people.

Franklyn’s video, which garnered 1,600,000 views, left many people pondering her motivations. “You have tons of money, why does it matter what he makes?” questioned one user.

Another person commented, “What if, in the eyes of the rich guy, you’re the struggling one that barely meets his expectations?”

A different viewer chimed in, saying, “Once you stop looking outside of YOURSELF for love, fulfillment, wealth, success... You will realize it doesn’t matter WHAT that person makes.”

On the other hand, there were those who supported the woman’s approach to finding her ideal partner. “Absolutely 300% agree! You deserve to have a man on the same level as you!” wrote one person. “Yes, this is a must!!” added another.

Of course, we ourselves have the right to decide on what criteria we use to look for our other half. And, as we’ve already seen, asking to see a bank balance isn’t the strangest thing that can happen on a date.
