Enrique Iglesias and Anna Kournikova’s love story blossomed in 2001 on the set of the singer’s music video. Skepticism surrounded their relationship at first, but fast-forward over two decades, and the couple is still going strong, raising three adorable children and basking in the glow of happiness. Despite never walking down the aisle officially, their enduring love and care for each other defy traditional norms, proving that commitment goes beyond formalities.

Anna and Enrique met on set while filming a video for one of his songs.

The couple’s first encounter was anything but ordinary. They locked eyes with each other for the first time in 2001 when the video for Enrique’s song, “Escape” was recorded. Even though they met right before filming it, their chemistry was so impeccable that it couldn’t go unnoticed.

Behind the scenes, Enrique revealed, “She is beautiful, talented, and a great tennis player. It doesn’t take a good actor to try to kiss Anna and make it believable.” The spark between them must’ve been really powerful because shortly after shooting the video, Anna and Enrique started dating.

They have been together ever since, but they never got married.

Enrique and Anna have been in a happy relationship for almost 25 years now, and they are still going strong. However, they chose not to get married because that wasn’t important to Anna, and Enrique has the same beliefs: “I’ve never really thought marriage would make a difference. Maybe it’s because I come from divorced parents, but I don’t think you love someone more because of a piece of paper.”

One of the things that kept their relationship alive is the fact that they were on the same page all along. Anna once said, “We’ve been together for years. He’s the male version of me, and I’m the female version of him.”

In an interview, Anna said, “[Marriage] isn’t important to me. I’m in a happy relationship — that’s all that matters. I believe in commitment. I believe in being open and trusting each other and respecting each other completely.”

Their relationship wasn’t always perfect.

As in every relationship, Enrique and Anna had their fair share of downfalls. Enrique even revealed that there were moments when he thought about ending their relationship, and so did Anna. But despite all of it, they got through every obstacle life threw their way, and that only made their love stronger.

When Anna broke up with Enrique once, he wrote a song for her.

At that time, Enrique did what he does best. He interpreted his feelings into lyrics, and the song, “Enamorado Por Primera Vez” (which translates to “in love for the first time”) was born. In his own romantic way, he apologized to the love of his life, and eventually, they got back together.

They are now proud parents of 3 adorable children.

Even though the couple didn’t marry, they wanted to be a family and have children together. In an interview, Enrique mentioned, “What makes a difference is that you’re a good parent, period.” So, in 2017, they brought their twins, Nicholas and Lucy, into the world.

More than years later, Anna and Enrique welcomed their third child, Mary. And when Enrique was asked what it was like to be a dad of 3, he revealed that he didn’t get enough sleep, but he wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.

Coincidentally, around the same time, Anna updated her Instagram profile name to include “Iglesias”, sparking rumors that she and Enrique had finally tied the knot.

Interestingly, when journalists inquired about Enrique’s involvement in diaper duty for his three children, he responded, “I actually do. I’m pretty hands-on.”

He further revealed his aspirations for his children, wanting them to follow in his mother’s footsteps and pursue sports instead of music like him. “I can honestly tell you, if I had to pick one, definitely sports. I love sports. I love golf, I love tennis, and I would not mind seeing one of my little girls play tennis.”

Enrique says the key to a happy family relationship is spending quality time together. He believes that controlling his schedule and ensuring that he is not away from home for more than two weeks in a row has been beneficial for his family life. In an interview with the British press, he shared how fortunate he is to have the flexibility to prioritize his family time amidst his busy career.

Long-lasting and strong relationships are the dream of many people. Here are some more celebrity couples who have managed to carry their love through the decades.
