Jennifer Lopez Waited Nearly 20 Years for the Opportunity to Become Mrs. Affleck, and Now She Proudly Bears The Husband’s Surname

Jennifer Lopez recently surprised everyone by announcing that, following her marriage to her equally famous lover, her official name is now Jennifer Affleck. However, for those who see her as the embodiment of empowerment and independence, her decision to adhere to traditional gender roles may have come as a surprise. That is why she has decided to address and clarify the issue once and for all.

It is worth noting that Jennifer has been waiting for the opportunity to become Ben’s wife for about 20 years. Back in the early 00s, the couple were supposed to get married. However, at the last moment before the wedding, everything was cancelled. The reason for the break-up is still unknown to the public.

Since then, the star has tried on the role of bride and wife several times. Her longest relationship came almost immediately after her break-up with Affleck. She married Marc Anthony in 2004. The marriage lasted 10 years. But Jen remained Lopez all these years, refusing to take her husband’s last name.

In an interview with Vogue, the legendary singer talked in depth about why she chose to take her husband’s last name and addressed the controversy it caused. She started by saying, “People are still going to call me Jennifer Lopez. But my legal name will be Mrs. Affleck because we’re joined together. We’re husband and wife.”

In reality, Lopez is the very traditional type, especially when it comes to marriage, so she wanted to do everything right. She sees the act of sharing a name with her husband as empowering on its own, explaining, “It feels like it’s a power move, you know what I mean? I’m very much in control of my own life and destiny and feel empowered as a woman and as a person.”

In the end, the singer wants the naysayers to agree to disagree with her because she cannot be happier about her choice. “I just feel like it’s romantic. It still carries tradition and romance to me, and maybe I’m just that kind of girl,” she said.

Even though the Afflecks insist their marriage is highly traditional, they still have a soft spot for a little edge. The 2 lovebirds’ bond is so strong that they even got matching tattoos, which makes us hope we all can find that special person to do the same thing with.

We hope that these tattoos will please lovers for many years and reflect their feelings. Unfortunately, not all people are happy with their body drawings for life. While some people love their tattoos more and more each year, others regret what they have done.
