Morgan Freeman’s Decision to Wear the Glove at the 2023 Oscars Deeply Touched the Audience
At the 2023 Oscars, a moment of intrigue enveloped the audience when Morgan Freeman made a graceful entrance, escorting Margot Robbie on stage. However, it was his left arm that captured the spotlight, adorned with an elegant elbow-length satin black glove. Unbeknownst to many, the poignant tale behind the glove reaches back 15 years, to an event that forever altered Freeman’s life.
Back in 2008, the Shawshank Redemption star was injured in a serious car accident that left him with a paralyzed left hand.
After the crash, Freeman had to undergo a 4-hour surgery in order to deal with his broken left shoulder, arm, and elbow.
And even though doctors had reassured him that his hand would get better by 2011, this unfortunately didn’t happen to be the case.
Freeman ended up with permanent nerve damage and is still unable to wiggle his fingers.
Even in some movie scenes it can be noticed that Freeman holds his damaged hand with another one.
And it seems that even 15 years later, the Oscar-winning actor is still dealing with the consequences of his accident, as we saw him wearing a glove during the ceremony.
According to experts, the compression glove works by lightly squeezing the veins in one’s hand to support blood circulation and can even help to manage tingling, pain, and swelling.
But no defect can interfere with an actor’s brilliant career. After the event, Freeman posted: “An honor to introduce the tribute to the legendary Warner Brothers Studios at the Oscars this year with the talented Margot Robbie”.
His fans showed great support, admiring Morgan’s charisma: “Morgan Freeman could read the most boring book on the planet, like explaining mathematics, and it would be awesome”.
Celebrities are always under close attention, no matter on stage or walking whether on the street. Of course, some want to have a perfect appearance, like a smile, facial features. While others even prefer to age naturally. But many famous people have uncommon physical traits that they are not ashamed of and are even proud of.
