9 Celebrity Weddings That Didn’t Need 1000 Guests to Be Dreamy

year ago

When two public figures are getting married, we are used to seeing lavish photos from the ceremonies. This doesn’t always mean that the guest list is massive, but in many cases the couple wants to have a big, impressive event. However, this isn’t the case with everyone, since many celebrities want a more personal and intimate ceremony. They just want their closest people as they exchange their vows.

1. Dwayne Johnson and Lauren Hashian

The WWE champ and the musician got married in 2019 in a romantic seaside ceremony in Hawaii, with a very small guest list of about 24 people. The Rock said they even had a full security detail on standby in case paparazzi choppers flew over. But surprisingly, no one knew, and they were able to keep that special moment to themselves. “My life is so loud and noisy; the fact that it was quiet was a big win,” he added.

2. Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz

The couple wed in 2011 in New York with only 4 people as guests: 2 were their own children and the other 2 were the couple’s close friends. The wedding was so low-key that even photos from the event haven’t resurfaced yet.

3. Kate Winslet and Edward Abel Smith

The award-winning actress and the businessman, who went by the name Ned Rock ’n’ Roll at that time, only had a total of 12 guests (6 from each side) at their top secret wedding in 2012. Even their parents weren’t aware of the nuptials, and reports mentioned that it was Leonardo DiCaprio who walked Winslet down the aisle. The actress’s spokesperson later confirmed the couple’s marriage and revealed that it was attended by her 2 kids and very few friends and family.

4. Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn

While Ed Sheeran announced his engagement on Instagram in 2018 to his then longtime girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn, their actual wedding day was kept under wraps. In an interview, Sheeran detailed how their wedding happened on a random night in the middle of January and revealed that no one knew where it was and no one came. They just got married and had curry after. It was only a few months later that they celebrated with a few friends and family, and even that was private, as no photos from the said event ever came out.

5. Sarah Hyland and Wells Adams

The Modern Family star and the Bachelor mainstay finally tied the knot on August 20 after a 3-year engagement. Their dreamy winery location was graced by a small group of guests, which included their respective families and the bridal party. Hyland’s co-stars were also in attendance, and their union was officiated by her on-screen uncle, Jesse Tyler Ferguson (a.k.a. Mitchell Pritchett). The glowing bride described the event as “a nice way to mark the end of the weekend — to relax and spend time with friends.”

6. Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard

For a total of $147, Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard legally bound their love in marriage in 2014. It was a no-frills, no-stress kind of day that involved listening to all of Bell’s favorite high school songs in the car on the way to the courthouse. Shepard shared that they didn’t want to spend a ton on a wedding since they’d rather buy a family member a house.

7. Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez

On May 15, 2021, Ariana Grande and real estate agent Dalton Gomez married in the singer’s home in Montecito, California. It was an intimate affair with less than 20 guests that included close friends and respective families of the couple. While the event was kept low-key, Grande’s Vera Wang dress was the talk of the town. It is said that a few years prior, before Grande even met her husband, Wang made a pact with the singer that when the time came, she would create her wedding dress.

8. Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost’s union proved to be private yet one that was for a charitable cause. News about the couple’s wedding was released by Meals on Wheels America, a charity that the couple partnered with to raise money for vulnerable seniors as their wedding wish. The couple married in their home in New York with only their closest friends and family in attendance.

9. Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma

4 days before Christmas, Hilary Duff and Matthew Koma exchanged their vows in front of their daughter, Banks, their family, and friends. It was an intimate celebration that happened in the front yard of their home in Los Angeles, California.
