13 Celebrities Who Are Outspoken About Their Dislike of Plastic Surgery

year ago

Getting older is a natural process no one can really stop, but with modern plastic surgery they can surely slow it down. And that is for the visual part, with women all over the world having all kinds of procedures. However, there are some women in Hollywood that have spoken openly about their dislike of plastic surgery. They prefer to let natural aging do its thing and not interfere.

The lead actress of the movie Freaky Friday is known for being candid and frank in her views regarding plastic surgery. She has publicly stated that she has tried these procedures but found them to be ineffective and now holds a negative view towards them. She stated, “The current trend of fillers and procedures, and this obsession with filtering, and the things that we do to adjust our appearance on Zoom are wiping out generations of beauty. Once you mess with your face, you can’t get it back.”

Although the Wild Wild West star has been accused of receiving Botox on her Instagram account, she has spoken out about how she feels about cosmetic surgery by stating that she has never gone through such procedures. “No surgical tweaks. No Botox either. I think it’s terrible, these girls in their late twenties injecting their faces and lips. One told me, ’If I kill my muscles now, I’ll never get wrinkles.’ Can you imagine?” she said in an interview.

3. Kate Winslet

The Titanic leading lady revealed that she has never received cosmetic surgery, stating, “It goes against my morals, the way that my parents brought me up and what I consider to be natural beauty. I will never give in.” In the same interview, she also added that she doesn’t want cosmetic procedures to affect her role as an actress. “I am an actress, I don’t want to freeze the expression on my face,” she confessed.

As for her beauty routine, Winslet said that staying hydrated is key. “My top tip would be water — water, water, water. Keep the body hydrated and the skin will follow suit.”

While she respects all takes on plastic surgery, the 47-year-old actress is also accepting when it comes to the process of aging. She has opened up about how her mother’s death at the age of 56 has helped her reframe how she views getting older. “I do like being older. I feel much more comfortable in my forties than I did when I was younger,” she confessed. “Maybe because my mom didn’t live very long, so there’s something about age that feels like a victory instead of a sadness for me,” she added.

The actress has explained why cosmetic procedures aren’t for her, although she’s not against other people getting them. “Whatever they want to do, I’m fine with it. For me, it’s really a self-image thing. Like, I’d rather have somebody go, ’Wow, that girl has a bad nose’ than ’Wow, that girl has a bad nose job.’” To conclude her views on plastic surgery, she also added, “I’d rather have a comment about who I am than about something that identifies me as being ashamed of who I am.

6. Christy Turlington

Christy honestly says she doesn’t want to look younger than she really is. The supermodel says, “Our face is a map of our life — the more that’s there, the better.”

7. Emma Thompson

The acclaimed Hollywood actress has not been afraid to talk about her strong feelings against cosmetic procedures, which have remained the same since she was younger. In an interview, she reflected on the topic by saying, “Why would you do that to yourself? I simply don’t understand. I do honestly think the cutting of yourself off to put it in another place in order to avoid appearing to do what you’re actually doing, which is aging, which is completely natural, is a form of collective psychosis. I really do think it’s a very strange thing to do.”

8. Heidi Klum

According to Heidi, plastic surgery creates an irreversible change in people’s faces. In most cases, it’s not good for them, especially for young girls. The model shares, “And I know girls half my age who do it. What are they gonna do at 40 or 50, when they really need it?”

9. Cate Blanchett

In an interview, the Australian actress revealed that she will never get any cosmetic procedures done. “There’s been a decade or so of people doing intervention with their face and their body. Now that we’re emerging from that, people are seeing that long-term it’s not so great,” she said.

Although she doesn’t judge those who are willing to go under the knife, she explained that such cosmetic alterations aren’t her thing. “I’d just be too frightened about what it means long term. In the end, if you have all that stuff done...you just see the work. It doesn’t fill me with admiration — it fills me with pity,” Blanchett said.

10. Carey Mulligan

Carey had a similar experience. The actress went to a clinic to get rid of small wrinkles around her eyes, and hoped they would recommend some cream. But they offered to inject a bit of Botox instead, and she refused. Her entire job is about moving her face.

11. Andie MacDowell

Although the Maid actress has revealed that she has been open to the idea of getting plastic surgery, she has declined the option by leaning into her natural appearance. While she has confessed that aging has been a process for her, the beloved star is willing to embrace the future as it comes. “It’s a journey, but you can’t go back in time. I don’t want to pretend to be what I’m not and have never been ashamed of my age. I want to be positive about right where I am at each stage of my life,” she said in an interview.

12. Drew Barrymore

Even though the 47-year-old actress has been in the spotlight for decades, she always resisted the urge to get work done. She noted, “I’ve never messed with my face.” She explained further, “I don’t want to fight nature.”

She added, “I’m raising 2 daughters, and we were raised in an industry where it was desired to drink off the fountain of youth, and I just never subscribed to it.” Barrymore shared, “We’re going to age, things are going to go south, and it’s okay, it’s a part of life.”

13. Julianne Moore

The Oscar winner has been honest about her feelings regarding cosmetic procedures by stating, “I hate to condemn people for doing it, but I don’t believe it makes people look better.” At the same time, she has claimed that she has accepted that aging is just a part of life by questioning the phrase “aging gracefully.” In an interview, Moore explained further, “Is there an ungraceful way to age? We don’t have an option, of course. No one has an option about aging, so it’s not a positive or a negative thing, it just is.
