This is just crazy love we are all born unique,,some say birth marks relate to past lives, who knows?
Father Endures 30 HOURS OF PAIN to Get Tattoo Matching His Son’s Birthmark, So He Won’t Feel Ashamed
A father’s love knows no bounds, and for Derek Sr., that meant going to great lengths to help his son feel more confident in his own skin. When he noticed his son was self-conscious about his birthmark, he decided to take a bold step to show his support. What followed was a powerful and heartfelt gesture that would change both their lives forever.
As time passed, the young boy began to understand that he was one of a kind.
Derek Prue Sr., from Stony Plain, Alberta, observed that his son, Derek Jr., was reluctant to take off his t-shirt at the swimming pool. Derek Jr. has had a noticeable birthmark on his chest since birth. “I think he might have felt a little self-conscious about it. I wanted to get the same thing, so he wouldn’t be the only one,” Derek Sr. shared.
Derek Sr. secretly visited Juicy Quill Tattoo for the first of what would become 9 sessions. Initially thinking it would only take one session, he ended up spending about 30 hours in total. The first session lasted around 4 hours, and he wasn’t sure how much had been accomplished. Due to the size and location of the tattoo, he had to be numbed multiple times as it was quite painful.
The tattoo, now finished, mirrors his son’s birthmark on his chest. Tattoo artist Tony Gibbert explained that the ribs and chest are sensitive areas with many nerves, making the tattooing process particularly painful: “It’s pretty painful.”
But no amount of pain could ever diminish the strength of a father’s love.
The son didn’t know what his father had done until they went swimming together. At the pool, Derek Sr. removed his shirt, revealing the matching tattoo on his chest, identical to his son’s birthmark. Surprised, the son thought it was cool and took off his own shirt, feeling comfortable and confident, just as his father had hoped.
People occasionally asked the boy about his birthmark, but he didn’t mind and simply told them it was just a big brown mark he’d had since he was little.
Later, both father and son returned to the tattoo studio, where artist Tony Gibbert had the chance to see his work and hear how much it had impacted Derek Jr.’s life. The tattoo helped boost the boy’s confidence, making him feel less alone with his birthmark. Derek Sr. shared that now, the mark was something that would stay with them forever.
