16 False Narratives That Our Society Makes Us Believe to Be True

year ago

One of the main things society keeps reminding us is that we need to make and spend a lot of money. It also lies about how people can and do make a lot of money and forgets to mention that hard work is needed. Basically everything revolves around consumerism and money and you can see that everywhere you look. It takes a very strong-minded person to notice these lies and resist falling into their traps.

1. That you can achieve anything you set your mind into.

2. That prices increase as sizes stay the same.

3. That’s we’ll pay less during sales.

4. That good grades are really important.

5. That a successful person should have the new iPhone, a good car and their own house.

6. That we should always enjoy the job we love.

7. That “bio” products have something more to offer.

8. That everyone needs to have a reputable job in order to be successful.

9. That it’s us that should change in order to fit into clothes.

10. That boxed and pre-prepared food is cheaper and easier to make.

11. That we need to buy our food from the airport.

12. That every mother with kids has to look and be happy all the time.

13. That we need to buy new clothes when trends change.

14. That we have to spend a lot of money in order to celebrate big moments.

15. That we can buy cheap devices that only use parts made by the same manufacturer, ending up paying more.

16. That women have to color their hair and show their grey strands.

What is the most unfair society hole you’ve fallen into due to all the pressure that exists around you?
